Little Chicks

Little Chicks
Have been working on a new learning resource for Mandarin and it was fun creating these 7 little chicks using Inkpad on the iPad. Each one is just slightly different from the other. Want to see the TinyTap interactive reader Find The Little Chicks? Click here.

Bird Domino - free printable

Created this as part of a learning package for Mandarin that is based on the concept of introducing Chinese words according to their radical. This is a domino-inspired game. When played using just 1 set by 1 player, it is just matching the word with the picture. When a few sets are printed, it can be played just like domino. All players are given the same number of cards, the first player would put down a card, and the next would have to find one side where a match of word and picture is found. Here's your free printable - 2 images make a set.

All illustrations are original creations made using Inkpad on the iPad. Really cool app and can be rather addictive too. Vector drawings done with my finger and not a stylus.

If you need help with matching the picture with words, take a look at the learning package. Let me know if this worked for you.

Digital Paintbox

In these past few weeks, I have had the pleasure of exploring further the use of the digital paintbox in on the iPad.

First, I have been quite intrigued and really having fun using the Inkpad app to create vector drawings. As I was working on a few work projects, all that doodling came in very useful - posters, game board, and website design.

On top of that, I was also able to create a teaching resource as a personal project - pdf activity sheets, game cards and a TinyTap game.

Yesterday, I learned loads from Rob Sketcherman about the use of the Procreate app as part of the Bandung Sketchwalk International Edition. Nothing like hearing from someone who has discovered the power of this great app because he shared practical tips and with great passion. This is truly a wonderful app and I look forward to creating with it. This is what I put together during the workshop.

A big thank you to all the creative minds who created these 2 wonderful apps for the iPad, and for the inspiring works that many artists who have started using the digital paintbox with such flourish! The digital paintbox sure opens up a whole new world for playing and working with visual arts.

IF - Stretch

Stretch 2 of 2
This piece started with my simple pen and ink drawing.
Stretch 1 of 2
After playing around with it with iPhoto on iPad, I was pleasantly surprised by what was created. What do you think? For Illustration Friday.
