Today marks the last day of the Baba exhibition which has been a resounding success. This afternoon, we had a Peranakan Surprise for our monthly crafting session.
Introducing the Pernanakan paperdoll!
This is Richard's masterpiece which was definitely an inspiration for all.
Everyone's creativity shone through brilliantly.
Ee Wei, who will soon be leaving for Canada, gave us a pizza treat. We wish her the very best always!
Today was certainly a wonderful wrap-up to an unforgettable exhibition.

Artistic Expression
It is fascinating hearing artist talk about their work as much as enjoying their creation.

Baba Exhibition: Making of a Matriarch
Famous actor GT Lye was at the exhibition on Sunday. Richard helped GT with the traditional 3-piece hair pins.
Witnessing the transformation was a treat for those present.
See GT in action in this 2007 recording.

Graffiti
Is there a latent graffiti artist in me? Love this idea of a walls notebook.
How about a Singapore version?
And here's a fun use of graffiti to Get London Reading.
Via One Floor Up.

Baba Exhibition: Beading Demo
We saw fine craftsmanship at work at the beading demonstration this afternoon. Hands were deftly picking up and sewing tiny beads, breathing life into vibrant and intricate patterns. It was such a pleasure to watch.
Next Sunday, we will get to see a Peranakan cooking demonstration by Mr Philip Chia who was featured in the Sunday Times today.
Update 20 Feb: Chef Philip is unable to make it on Sunday. So, there will be beading demo instead.

Baba Exhibition: Opening
What a lively and warm opening event for "A Baba's Collection and Recollection" that we had today.
There were family, friends and guests enjoying the exhibits and catching up with each other.
Of course, there was wonderful homecooked Peranakan food. A very special treat was the nasi ulam, a fragrant mix of rice with finely chopped herbs, spices and shredded fish. The extra spicy chilli and fried shallot complemented this so much.

Baba Exhibition: Getting Started
After some intensive preparation, the Baba exhibition started today!
Pauseability was filled with some curious visitors, the lively chatter of friends and the wonderful fragrance of Peranakan potpurri.
Tonight, we also met for this month's ATC session.
There were so many interesting expressions of the Peranakan theme in ATC.
Do pause by the Baba exhibition between now till 28 Feb.

Paper Art
What can be created from a stack of construction paper often used by school children? In the hands of young artist Jen Stark, they have been transformed into the most amazing artwork.

Get Up and Dance
Plant undercover dancers in the midst of unsuspecting passengers at a train station, play some infectious music that gets everyone's feet tapping and watch everyone have a good dance break.
Here's the behind-the-scene for this advert.
Love those songs. Shall we dance?

My Own Font
I am so delighted to be able to make my own font almost effortlessly. This wonderful site Your Fonts has made that possible.
Download and print the template, filled it up neatly, scan and then upload. Presto! My very own font MoMo (if you don't mind my handwriting, do ask me for the font *haha*).
Be sure to try your hand(writing) at it too.
Sound Fun
This was drawn by zefrank using sound. You can also try out this little digital toy he created.
You do need a mic plugged into your computer, and a sufficiently quiet room.
