Cuteable Again

Wrinkles was featured on Cuteable.

Sure made my face wrinkle up with a smile, well, ok, a silly grin. Thanks.

Laugh Out Loud

Comedian John Cleese brings you to the originator of the Laughing Club. A cheerful heart is good medicine indeed.

But be careful with laughing your head off though.

Haha! Hoho! Have a good day!

Go Green
Here are some ideas for going green.

I imagine that most of us have a good collection of books, DVDs and CDs which are unlikely to get to see the light of day very much. One of the things that could be done is to swap them for something else.

There are a few sites that promote this whether they are for DVDs, CDs or paperback books. In fact, Paperback Swaps has a DVD and CD version too, and they are free-of-charge. All these sites are all based in America though.

Another way to put our books to good use is to free it for a bookcross. If you didn't already know, we have a local version here in Singapore.

KBCC #02

Welcome to KBCC#02!

Betsy had wonderful response to her second KBCC gathering held at Pauseability. Having just returned from a recent trip to Japan, it was rather appropriate that this session of the crafting club had a sort of Japanese theme.

We were introduced to some wonderful crafters, cool events and kawaii shops in Japan. Then we tried our hands folding an origami card before we had Kelvin, a young artist, who taught everyone to make an origami rose.

It was such a pleasant 26 Apr afternoon. The next KBCC will be at the Botanic Garden.

Oh Coral!

Mermaid Bride
Our earth is covered largely in water and the ocean is indeed a fascinating place. Recent news has been that we have been over exploiting it too.

While I do not dive, I have heard about the beautiful corals in this region. It is sad that as much as 60% of it has been destroyed thus far. Last year, an effort was launched to start a coral nursery to help slow down this decline, and they are gaining some success.

Just some thoughts about being more conscious in how we use the wonderful natural resources we have and do what we can to reduce wasteage, be as sustainable as possible and repair damage where we can.

Happy Earth Day!

A moment that changed their lives represented in this lovely piece of art that is literally worth a thousand words. Beautiful.

Bounty - Paperchase

Paperchase ACEO
Over at Etsy, there is a fun little event going on called an ACEO Bounty. Challenges are posted and those in on it will create ACEOs which are then either sold or will be won in an ultimate challenge.

I love the ideas that came with the challenges and created 5 to post on my etsy. The one you see here is called Paperchase, a response to 2 challenges for butterfly and also for use of a found item. I rather like how this turned out. Look carefully and you might see a word in the trail.

Look at my Flickr or click here to see the rest of my bounty.

Parody

Something funny that stops you in your track or one that makes you do a double-take could add that spark to your day. This funny company called Despair, Inc has a range of stuff that could potentially make your bittersweet day a walking sparkler ... oops, that came out so lame.

Treasury

Over at etsy, members can put in their selections of favourites into what is called Treasury. The is a limited number of treasuries that goes online and so there is quite a queue. Recently, Timeless put in her treasury of books and one of my journals was picked. How happy!

IF: Fail

A one-arm swordsman. Has he failed, at least that one time? What's his story? (Cue dramatic oriental music followed by a gust of wind)
For Illustration Friday.

A-Live Version 8

A*Live 10 Apr

We just had our 8th live trade session! How time flies. Those of us who have been regular have acquired quite an ATC collection by now.

We had a good time that 10th April evening and were especially delighted to have 2 new friends join us. Do make a date with us at Pauseability on 8th May.

A*Live 10 Apr

Some of the wonderful ATCs I traded for that night.

Birdy Birdy

These chirpy little dancers would definitely perk up your day.

Someone on the etsy forum shared this.

And I have just re-listed my Love Bird ACEO.

Talking about birds, how does chicken poop soup sound to you? Looks like poop, but really, it is just a plant. It's a dish from Hainan Island in China which a Singaporean blogged about. It's also interesting how coconut is featured in so many of the dishes there. Go check it out.

For Illustration Friday's theme of Save.

Happy Cats

How contented you must be if you were any of these cats.

Started making the first piece yesterday and enjoyed it so much I made 9 in all. Each has enough variation to make it unique. Looking at them makes me smile.

You can see each card on Flickr. Feel free to suggest a name for each one.

PS Thanks Noricum for the mention on your soapbox.

Cupcake Whimsy

Julie started this blog for anything creative that has a food theme - illustrations, photos, and even sculptures. What a delicious idea!

She has so kindly chosen to feature some of my pieces. Thanks Julie!

Head on over and take a look at Cupcake Whimsy and be sure to keep track of it.

Kawaii Cringe?

This is so kawaii, but I am torn if it is just a little too cute.

Anna Chamber does marvelously kawaii stuff I must say. Be sure to check out her fun animations.

IF: Homage

Nothing beats the smell of freshly baked bread, and the softness and bite. Goes so well with kaya, a local coconut-based jam. Yum yum!

My submission for Illustration Friday's theme of Homage.

Three random words, yet they carry a message that goes way beyond what each word would literally mean.

This is such a thought-provoking and simple art piece. Less is more than meets the eye.

Cute!

Nice to be called cute.

Ok, not me, but a piece of my work is featured on Cuteable, a daily blog of all things cute. Go take a look.
