Take 5

Created 5 new journals recently and listed all of them on etsy.

Most materials used were recycled/upcycled. Happy that they are each different from the other. What do you think?

Woven

Woven

Here is another something I made using recycled materials. Weaving these strips made from expired flyers created a nice cover for a journal, both visually and to the touch. Added paper beads created from a magazine page as buttons too.

This is now available at my etsy shop.

After a long dry spell, I recently made 2 sales at etsy and that was a good boost to my morale. Not so much the sale, but to be able to share my handwork is such a delight.

Tickled Pink

Journal Diva

Ren who received the first giveaway on this blog was very kind to pen the following testimonial.

"I love this pretty pink notebook! It is unique and very well made. I noticed the stitching especially and how it was put together. Very good handiwork. It arrived to me in good condition with nice packaging. It is so unique with the iron on it. I like the natural paper inside as well. I just love fun items like this. It's different than anything else that anyone will ever have, so it's a special piece. Thanks Pauseability!"

Visit her etsy store too.

Another giveaway is in the pipeline for June. Keep your eyes peeled!

's Warm

Bitten by the Love Bug!

This fantastic art installation by Bunny with a Toolbelt is awe inspiring. I like the kiddy bright colours, the dynamic sense of motion and the wonderful variety in the details.

Do visit Hilary Pfeifer's website, and be sure to "view more images". She has an etsy shop too.

Bounty - Paperchase

Paperchase ACEO
Over at Etsy, there is a fun little event going on called an ACEO Bounty. Challenges are posted and those in on it will create ACEOs which are then either sold or will be won in an ultimate challenge.

I love the ideas that came with the challenges and created 5 to post on my etsy. The one you see here is called Paperchase, a response to 2 challenges for butterfly and also for use of a found item. I rather like how this turned out. Look carefully and you might see a word in the trail.

Look at my Flickr or click here to see the rest of my bounty.

Treasury

Over at etsy, members can put in their selections of favourites into what is called Treasury. The is a limited number of treasuries that goes online and so there is quite a queue. Recently, Timeless put in her treasury of books and one of my journals was picked. How happy!

Birdy Birdy

These chirpy little dancers would definitely perk up your day.

Someone on the etsy forum shared this.

And I have just re-listed my Love Bird ACEO.

Talking about birds, how does chicken poop soup sound to you? Looks like poop, but really, it is just a plant. It's a dish from Hainan Island in China which a Singaporean blogged about. It's also interesting how coconut is featured in so many of the dishes there. Go check it out.

Talking Rubbish

It is most intriguing to see boxes of rubbish being sold for $50 or $100 and to know that about 700 such boxes have been sold. Look at NYC Garbage where trash from New York City is packed into plastic boxes and sold. Unusual sculpture.

In a sense, many of us who are closet karang-guni's can appreciate how such garbage can hold sentimental value and conversation starters.

This is a form of recycling too, or upcycling as some would call it.

Been making handbound books using largely upcycled materials, and some are available on my etsy and at Dawanada. Do take a look.

Go Local

Over at Etsy, there is a group of Singapore crafters who have setup shop. Last year, they got together for mutual support. You might have seen some of them if you have ever been to the MAAD fair at the Red Dot museum every first weekend of the month.

Do visit the Singapore Etsy's blog for weekly highlights.
