Scruffy Pie
Happy mtv from Mr Scruff, DJ, Producer, Cartoonist & Tea Drinker.
Reminded me of Pie Kia - a shopname that plays on the Hokkien term for "bad boy". And also the Chinese song "Singapore Pie" with its play on the Chinese word for "tribe".

Koi Carp Jelly
This is so beautiful and creative, not just the agar-agar but also the way the photo has been taken.
Check out bananagranola's photostream for more amazing photos.

A-Live Jun 09
Our monthly ATC trading session tonight at Bishan Library went very well indeed. These are our fabulous creations when we tried making cards by collaging pieces from the inside of envelopes that our bills came in.
We had a good mix of regulars with newcomers, and of young and old. It was such fun just meeting up again and seeing the wonderful artwork from everyone.
Join us on 9 July for the next session. If you need inspiration, try our theme "Travel".

More Law Sew?
This was something I remember buying from a man who would bring them around in his stack of wooden trays on the back of his bicycle. In Cantonese, it is called "more law sew" but I am not sure what it means.
Back then, the ones I ate were smaller and did not have a raisin in them. The photo shows one I recently bought from a traditional confectionery at Alexandra Village.
The old hawker who sold this used tweet his horn and shout out "hum jim pang", a sort of fried dough with savory spices, as he comes around to the neighbourhood.

Origami Giftboxes
It was fun spending the morning with this group of children making origami giftboxes. Even though it was a challenge, especially for the younger ones, they really took pride in making their little creations.
The children turned the old magazine pages and junk mailers into such colourful and attractive giftboxes.
This giftbox's combination of origami is a pauseability original.

Nonya Manis
Our peranakan paperdoll has gone into "commercial production" and named Nonya Manis.
It has been wonderful being able to collaborate with the seniors at Silver Co-op in this project.
We have packed quite a lot and ready for the debut later this month. How exciting!

Project Spring
A bunch of young people has come together for Project Spring 09 to raise funds for the Children's Cancer Foundation.
They are designing origami greeting cards to sell. It has been my honour to be able to chip in with some origami butterflies.

Drawing Near
Why do we draw? Just because.
This Saturday is Drawing Day, an international event encouraging everyone to drop everything and draw for the sake of art.
If you do draw on 6 June, especially if you are from Singapore, we would like to feature you on this blog. Do let us know.
IF - Adapt
Well, would this count for the theme Adapt?
In fact, my scanner is down and this I thought could pass for Adapt. So much for my adapting to the situation.
Illustration Friday.

Cute as Buttons
In our latest KBCC session on Saturday, we were inspired by P8's button art to try to create our own.
Once again, we had such a variety of designs and cute-ness.
