Teachers' Day
In Singapore, we celebrate Teachers' Day on 1 Sep. Teachers have such significant impacts on all our lives. It is wonderful to be able to show how much we appreciate them and to affirm their hard work.
Thank you and Happy Teachers' Day!

Opei Leaves
Fried Hokkien Mee is one of my favourite. Besides the rich taste, it also reminds me of those special suppers Mum would buy as a treat once in a while.
In the good old days, Fried Hokkien Mee is packed in fragrant opei leaves (soft palm bark). Some hawkers today would still line their plates with these leaves and charge extra for that touch of nostalgia
It was so amusing to see how this very eco-friendly practice has been updated by the people at VerTerra.
These opei dinnerware made from fallen palm leaves and water sure look great, don't they?
Would it go well with Fried Hokkien Mee I wonder?

Eggs and Sausage
How time flies! Just realised that it is almost a week since my last post.
What do you usually have for breakfast? Bread, a cup of milo and sometimes a bowl of cereal, that's mine.
This is not exactly about breakfast, but the title reminded me of that. It is a beautiful show of typography.
And typography is one of the possible avenue to explore for the next A*Live's theme: A Way with Word.
Come join us for some ATC pun, I mean fun on 10 Sep at Bishan Library.

ATC on Parade 09: Closing
After an exciting week, ATC on Parade came to a close with our usual A*Live trade session in the evening.
Putting this exhibition together has been a testimony to the wonderful spirit of community we have. Everyone chipping in, having fun and encouraging each other's creativity. What a precious treasure!
If you missed the exhibition, here is a quick glance of all the cards on display.
Join us next month at 6.30 pm on 10 Sep at Bishan Library. If you need inspiration, try our theme "A Way with Words".

IF - Impatience
Looks like it is in a hurry, doesn't it?
Rushing to grow, to bloom perhaps. But some things just can't be hastened.

ATC on Parade 09: Getting Ready
It is the eve of the ATC on Parade exhibition. We got together, had a small potluck and everyone chipped in to get the show ready.
I would say we make a cool and very diverse community. Everyone was able to build on each person's ideas and effort to create this exhibition.
The exhibition is at a good spot in the Bishan Public Library. What a great way to share our creations and to encourage more to explore their own creativity too.

Make me a Match
"Each week, a decorated matchbox with a tiny present hidden inside is left by a girl (and sometimes willing friends) somewhere in her travels. It's a random act of semi-artistic kindness aimed at disrupting someone's day in a tiny but positive way. That's if they dare to pick it up..."
Isn't The Matchbox Project such a fun thing?

IF - Modify
Created this for the ATC on Parade exhibition.
Look closely. It might not be what you thought it was. A case of genetic modification gone wrong?
Hope it fits this week's Illustration Friday theme.
