Six Packs of Problems

Don't believe everything you THINK. The 6 basic mistakes we make in thinking:

1) We prefer stories to statistics.
2) We seek to confirm, not to question, our ideas.
3) We rarely appreciate the role of chance and coincidence in life.
4) We can misperceive the world.
5) We oversimplify.
6) We have faulty memories.

Paintbrush of Birds

These birds were seen at a train station in Rome. The fluid sweep of this flock is so beautiful and fascinating.

Perhaps a good illustration of "chaordic" too.

I think these might have been starlings, and if so, you would want to watch this next clip about starlings in England.

Tickled Pink

Journal Diva

Ren who received the first giveaway on this blog was very kind to pen the following testimonial.

"I love this pretty pink notebook! It is unique and very well made. I noticed the stitching especially and how it was put together. Very good handiwork. It arrived to me in good condition with nice packaging. It is so unique with the iron on it. I like the natural paper inside as well. I just love fun items like this. It's different than anything else that anyone will ever have, so it's a special piece. Thanks Pauseability!"

Visit her etsy store too.

Another giveaway is in the pipeline for June. Keep your eyes peeled!

Fascinating reinvention of junk into beautiful and eye-catching jewelry. High chance that you would scroll through all the entries in this blog like I did.

IF-Wide

Grin and Bare It
For this week's topic on Illustration Friday - Wide.

This topic was suggested by Fishbait, and because I was in a hurry when I first saw the topic, I thought the topic was Fishbait. How embarassing! And this was what I drew.

Fishbait
Hope it gave you a wide smile.

Thanks for Being a Part

Pauseability Turns One
Rounded some customers and friends for a little celebration as Pauseability turns one.

Everyone was game enough for a round of "pictionary", competing in groups as Pause, Ser, Ble (or was it Blur??) Hahaha! Then after a "short" little trip down memory lane with yours truly, we tucked into popiah which arrived right on cue. Even the food had to be handcrafted. :)

For everyone who has ever paused by, thank you for being a part of making Pauseability possible.

Feast for the Eye

Watch this kawaii moveable feast (Click on the link) from e-obento. This lady sure is talented.

And btw, Pauseability(the shop) turns one today.

IF: Electricity

Electricity

Illustration Friday's theme of Electricity. The kind between lovers, and with a touch of heavenly intervention.

Hand-drawn then digitally coloured. Not entirely happy with it and might add another piece later.

Updated on 12 May: Here's yet another response to the theme.

Creativity Abounds

As people paused by Pauseability, it has been such great joy to see how everyone has been able to explore their own creativity. Even when they don't see themselves as creative.

Rita's Handwork
These were made by Rita after learning to weave by hand. Her personalised embellishments are charming.

Mini- Journals
And these journals were made by Stephanie and Suki who came by recently, and each one reflects it's creator.

Cupcakes Galore
This group paused by some time back and you can again see how each person's angel clay cupcake is uniquely creative.

ALive - May
Of course, our Artist Trading Card trade sessions every second Thursday of the month have been good times to see the variety of artwork that we all produce.

Thank you for having explored possibilities at Pauseability.

's Warm

Bitten by the Love Bug!

This fantastic art installation by Bunny with a Toolbelt is awe inspiring. I like the kiddy bright colours, the dynamic sense of motion and the wonderful variety in the details.

Do visit Hilary Pfeifer's website, and be sure to "view more images". She has an etsy shop too.

I am shy

i am shy., originally uploaded by iamaustin.

Such a wonderful idea for an art installation. It's amazing what we have to say about ourselves, and maybe, just what we have to say at all, with such a prompt.

A friend just told me how busy she is and how it has been near impossible to pause. I told her that she should tell herself "i'm-pauseable" instead. Corny I know, but not far from true yes?

Mother Dearest (psst, a giveaway)

This is a beautiful animation for Mother's Day. Yves Geleyn's artistry is inspiring (and I love this other piece he did called Kotori)

You Raise Me Up

As a kid, I remember how Mom would surprise us once in a while with a pack of fried hokkien mee for supper. We would whip out our chopsticks, take in the rich smell that rises with the steaming noodles, and share the joy of eating together. Tangy lime on my finger tips and the taste of egg, thick stock and chilli linger into the night. This could be why I love that dish so much.

*GIVEAWAY ALERT* Share your best memory about your Mother, and you might just win this handbound journal. The winner will be picked on 11 May, Mother's Day.

PS The memories shared thus far have been great. Don't miss out reading them, and of course, adding your own.
