Plasticine Artist

I was so excited by the vibrant and colourful ATCs we made using plasticine at last night's ATC session that I decided to send photos of them to Barbara Reid who inspired us in the first place.
She replied.

ATC @ Bishan Library June 2013

This was a somewhat special ATC session - for one, it was held a week earlier than the usual, everyone produced the most delightful and colourful ATCs and it was the last ATC session that I am hosting for now.

I will be headed overseas to work from July onwards, and I have to be away next week, so everyone was lovely in agreeing to move this month's session forward by a week.
For the crafting session, we were inspired by Barbara Reid's illustration and so got to trying using plasticine to create ATCs.

We have grown into a wonderful and supportive community. Many has stepped forward to help continue to make the ATC sessions happen. Join them on 11 July at 6.30 pm, Bishan Library.

Artsy Send Off

Over this long weekend, it was heartwarming spending time with friends who have so kindly met up to give me their best wishes before I head off to Bandung.

Besides the wonderful company, there was good food, unique gifts and heartfelt words.


Thank you my friends from SF and ATC, you have been a blessing to me in more ways than I might have been able to say.

It was punches and stamps at tonight's ATC meet - nothing violent of course.

While most of us were just amassing stuff to be used in the future, Ellen did make an instant winner on the spot.

And Vicki shared her handmade stamps and also ATCs she made with them.

Of course, there were also new ATCs, including those on the theme of "Yesterday".

Notice Melissa's series of ATCs tracing all the different techniques we have tried out in the recent months?
This has been a simple and exciting session.

Next month, we will meet on 6 June which is a week sooner than usual. Do note the change of date. As for theme: "Whatever makes you happy".

A Little Letterpress Pleasure

I have been hoping to be able to try out letterpress printing and today at a workshop by The Gentlemen's Press I did.

It was great fun going through the drawers of types and composing something witty and worthy of print. It was also backbreaking work doing the layout (filling gaps with "furniture") and operating the press required some elbow grease too.

Seeing and touching (the oh-so-retro debossed feel!) the final print makes it all worthwhile.

This was yet another fun session together. We tried our hands at this tracing-staining-transfer method for creating colourful art pieces.
There were also some interesting ATCs for this month, including those for this month's theme "My Everyday".

We will meet again on 9 May and the theme is "Yesterday".
Tonight, we also decided to move the June session to 6 June (instead of 13 Jun).
