Acting Your Age

Have you ever caught yourself wondering how people of a certain age is generally supposed to look like?

Enjoy this rather engaging film. I especially like the older folks who drums on with such gusto. Enjoy "People in Order".

And for those celebrating birthdays only once every 4 years, happy happy happy happy birthday!

Talking of which, I read that 71 couples chose to register their marriage today. Why? I suspect the guys might have decided that it is so much easier to have to remember anniversaries only once in four years.

Keeping you posted

A month ago, I wrote this Post It Project and some of you might be wondering what has been done by the creative folks around the world. Here's the link to see them all.

Have fun!

Playing Catchup .. Ketchup

When this series was first shown here, we were all amazed by the creativity. Seeing this clip made me go wow all over again.

We did have a local series modeled after this show but I don't think it quite had the same wow factor.

It has been said that asking for ketchup is an insult to the chef. For a French chef especially? Not sure.

Recently, we were talking about our impression that French food always comes in small portions and that could be the reason for the French being generally slim. However, this article suggests that this is really because the French stops eating when they are full while the Americans stops only when there is nothing left in their plate. The latter sounds like what mum used to say to me as a kid - polish off everything on your plate if you don't want a pock-marked wife! Still, I am thin as a stick.

IF - Multiple ... Thoughts

The theme this week at Illustration Friday is Multiple. In a crowded bus, on a packed train, multiple people with multiple thoughts.

Morning Call

What do you wake up to?

These Voco clocks are a laugh with their Jeeve-like greetings.

It reminds me of the movie An Ideal Husband which was based on Oscar Wilde's story. This was a witty and enjoyable British period comedy.

For me, I will have to content myself with my handed-down radio clock with Hamish and Kate prattling away at 6 am.

And for breakfast these few days, I have a huge bowl of "Bread Salad".

If you are heading out, how about bringing along a Good Morning Towel hat?

IF: Theory

Bearded Thoughts

My first post to Illustration Friday. Each Friday, a new theme is choosen and any illustrator can respond with their work. The collection is usually rather breath-taking. Not even sure I am of good standard but I am sure I want to share what I have been creating.

This is something that I drew while thinking of some professor or other swimming in his theoretical thoughts.

Happy Valentine's

I created a few ATCs today playing on the them of "Come Fly with Me" and I think this one is just so appropriate for today.

Come Fly with Me 04

Hope you had a love-ly day.

The Science of Fairy Tales

Interestingly I recently created an ATC about Rapunzel and then came across this article about the physics behind Rapunzel's hair and the weight hair can hold.

I am also reminded of a Chinese idiom that describes a precarious situation as having a thousand jun hanging on a strand of hair 千钧一发. And that's much much more than 3.5 ounces or 2 candy bars. (1 jun is an ancient unit equivalent to 30 catties.)

Science is so much fun!

Play with your food

This lady creates such beautiful bento sets you will be in a fix whether to just stare at your food or gobble it all up. Too bad I can't read Japanese on this site but the visuals are good enough.

This one made me chuckle! Look at that nose - so clever and so funny.

Gum-my

What a creative way in trying to get across the idea that one should keep the place clean and put used gum where it should be. Gum-by-number art from Austraila's Hubba Bubba.

Food for thought for a place notorious for banning the sale of gum, don't you think? Something to chew on.

Home is Where the Heart Is

A fairly long advert with a touching little story about the Reunion Dinner.

Hear that song at the start of this advert? I remember learning it in primary school too. Do wonder if this is still taught in school.

Nice Song

Stumbled upon this unusual sounding song. I like how it sounds. I think the MV makes interesting viewing. The 2 kids clapping near the end are memorably cute. Nice lyrics.

Presenting Ingrid Michaelson's The Way I Am. Enjoy!

Freeze! You're in NY

In the last blog, the disco events I mentioned happens in New York. Recently, I spoke to someone who spent some years there and she was telling me about the interesting places and events there. This next video shows a cool improv act in which 207 people freezes in motion for 5 minutes in the midst of busy Grand Central, New York. Could we have pulled something like this off here?

80's Rewind

Now that 80's retro is getting somewhat popular, here's a parent-child idea that someone might want to try.

Post It Project

Yesterday, 1 Feb, was Post It Project day. I wrote about this sometime back.

Just a simple idea of creating art on a pst it and then release it. Anyone in the world can join in. And so I did.

Posted it at a public telephone. A few hours later when I returned to the same spot, sadly, my work has been destroyed. Shredded.

Folks from all over the world will be posting their work to Fiona and she will be posting them at her blog soon.

Meanwhile, here is one from Suzy in Korea, and also Andy who doodles on post it everyday.

Keep posted.
